Lima considered as one of the National Geographic’s most exciting destinations to visit in 2024

Once again, the beauty of Peru is recognized for important organizations. In this opportunity, Lima, the Peruvian capital, has been highlighted as one of the most exciting destinations to visit in 2024, according to National Geographic's exclusive Cool List 2024.

The current year brought many recognitions to the country, one of them related to our gastronomy. Lima is the only city with two spots in the top 10 of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards this 2023.

The Nikkei cuisine (Japanese-Peruvian fusion) at “Maido” earned it sixth place, while “Central” came first for its innovative focus on indigenous ingredients. Furthermore, Peru achieved the award for Best South American Culinary Destination.

For this reason, Lima has become an international culinary reference due to the richness and diversity of its cuisine, fusing ancient cooking traditions with contemporary innovations.

Additionally, the article mentions the flourishing emergence of rooftop bars in bohemian and exclusive districts like Barranco and Miraflores.

The article is an annual compilation of destinations recommended by the publication as exciting, trending, and notable places to visit. The list includes 30 destinations and experiences to try in 2024, the highlighted destinations are chosen for providing outstanding experiences, whether through new travel opportunities, conservation efforts, hotel innovation, unique landscapes, or cultural experiences. 

Besides being a city full of wonderful gastronomic experiences, it is a destination bursting with vitality and diversity, enriched by centuries of history reflected in every corner of the city. Its dynamism intertwines with a wide range of cultural experiences and a varied array of attractions that enthral those who visit.

In addition, starting in December of this year, Lima will be even more accessible for travellers from the United Kingdom, as a renowned airline will offer direct flights from Heathrow. (London) up to five times a week.
